The Käänne festival, which was a huge success in January, will continue at Bio Rex in Lasipalatsi on Saturday 23 August. The one-day festival will explore the state of journalism today and, like the first festival, the hottest issues in economic policy.
The debate on journalism’s relationship with authoritarian states will be one of the main topics on the festival’s programme. The Swedish journalist Joakim Medin, who was recently imprisoned for political reasons in Turkey for over a month, will take the stage.
The festival will also hear from international guests in the economic policy debate “Shit growth – why is the economy not growing? -with the distinguished Daniela Gabor, Professor of Economics at SOAS University of London, among others.
In addition to these topics, the programme will also include discussions on the changing role of men in society, the antigender movement and the weak presence of civil society on the streets.
The arts programme includes the Sivumennen podcast and the drag artists of Diivavälitys. In the evening, the party continues with BängerBingo and the Rosettes.
