More art to Lasi­palatsi­kortteli: Tommi Toija’s work as part of Kulttuuri­kasarmi’s art collection

The supply of public art in Helsinki’s Lasipalatsi quarter will increase when a new work by sculptor Tommi Toija (b. 1974) will be announced on May 31. Toija’s bronze sculpture Face of the Night will be permanently attached to the end wall of Kulttuurikasarmi, and it will be part of the art collection of Kulttuurikasarmi.

Tommi Toija, who lives in Helsinki, is one of the most renowned sculptors in our country. his wondering, naked human figures are familiar from the streets of Helsinki, Porvoo and Kotka. Toija’s exhibition Archeology of Emotions opens on June 1. in Helsinki Art Hall.

The CEO of Lasipalatsikortteli, Henrik Johansson, welcomes the new work to the block.

– Our quarter is an impressive combination of art, events, cinemas and shops. Art can be found in surprising places, both inside and out, and it is a central part of the Lasipalatsikortteli.

Art is present in Amos Rex Museum, in Kulttuurikasarmi and in the lobby of Bio Rex. In addition, Amos Rex’s outdoor exhibition features Kim Simonsson’s Moss Giants this Summer.
